Earth Day is for the birds – in a good way!
Today is the 45th annual Earth Day! To mark the occasion, and to inspire people to take action to protect our planet, Earth Day Network and Global Citizen threw a huge bash in the National Mall in Washington DC last Saturday (that is, April 18th). Just look at that crowd!
There were some extra special guests there as well. My Morning Jacket? Yeah, they’re special. Mary J. Blige? Yes, her too. Usher? No, no, maybe even more special than Usher. No, not No Doubt either – I’m talking about our very own Edvard Groundstroem, Blanca Juti, and Patrick Liu!
And what exactly were they doing there? Well, they were announcing a collaboration between Angry Birds and Earth Day Network to create an in-game experience to raise awareness for environmental issues. Super cool, huh? Expect to see some new environmentally-minded stuff happening very soon in Angry Birds!
The Birds have always been committed to wildlife conservation and preventing climate change, whether it’s helping endangered species like the pangolin, or creating awareness of our impact on the environment during Earth Hour, the Angry Birds always have the best interests of our beautiful planet at heart.
They’re always excited to share that passion with their fans as well. Can we reverse climate change and save the planet by flinging birds at pigs? Maybe. I don’t know, but we’re definitely going to try!
Why not start with today’s Earth Day level in Angry Birds Seasons – where you can at least save Piggy Island from deforestation at the hands of the greedy pigs. Then maybe learn about deforestation in real life. One step at a time…
