Guys, it’s Friday the 13th…

A day of serious negative mojo, Friday the 13th has been feared by superstitious folks since the 1800s. The belief that Friday is an unlucky day allegedly has it’s roots in early Christianity, and the number thirteen has been linked to a slew of unlucky events throughout history. When the two come together… double whammy!

Friday the 13th and other superstitions days are actually more common than you might think. Need proof? Ok, check out these five facts:

1. There can be as many as three Friday the 13ths in a single calendar year.

If the year begins on a Thursday, look out – there will be three Friday the 13ths that year. That is assuming it’s not a leap year.

2. There are 3 Friday the 13ths in 2015. Yikes!

Hey, didn’t 2015 begin on a Thursday? Yup. Today is the first of three Friday the 13ths we’ll have this year along with March 13th and November 13th. Mark your calendars folks. Oh – well I guess Friday the 13th is already on the calendar.

3. Any month that starts on a Sunday contains a Friday the 13th.

Fair warning. At least with this knowledge you can start preparing for the 13th at the beginning of the month.

4. The 13th day of the month falls on Friday more than any other day.

That’s right, if you count all the 13ths over the last 400 years, there are more Friday the 13ths than Thursday the 13ths, Monday the 13ths, or any other day the 13ths.

5. Different cultures observe different superstitious days.

In Greece, Tuesday the 13th is the unlucky day, and in Italy, it’s Friday the 17th.

There’s no way we can avoid unlucky days! No reason to be worried though, it’s all just superstition. But just to be safe, stay indoors, play as much Angry Birds as possible (naturally), and wait it out until Valentine’s Day tomorrow! We got you covered with some great stuff to keep you occupied until then. Check out the Valentine’s Day Tournament in Angry Birds Friends for example, or watch some Valentine’s-y Toons episodes such as:

Love is in The Air

Piggy Love

or *gulp* The Miracle of Life .

And last, don’t forget the Valentine’s Pig Day level in Angry Birds Seasons. That should hold you over at least until tomorrow!
